Career Action Plan (CAP) assignment - highlights my career aspirations and how I plan to reach them
VOLUNTEERING - I volunteer four hours a month throughout the school year. I am involved at places and events such as: the humane society, local race fundraisers, community events(conner prairie), the children's museum, etc.
Volunteering in the community helps address local needs by providing support to individuals and organizations that may lack resources. Helping others strengthens social bonds, brings a sense of connection and gratification.
KINE-P 246- Although only a semester, Performance and Teaching of Cardiorespiratory Training has taught many lessons in everything from technique in resistance training, to types of training, learning how design workout plans specific to people, components of group workouts, and how to be the best leader for each individual. Most of our class consisted of teaching and learning by experience- very little was lecture based which was enjoyable. We had the opportunity to work with some of our peers who perhaps we did not know before. Working with new people is something that will always be present in our career and it may be best learned in a classroom than out in the world.

Above is a project based off a periodization plan for training to complete an Ironman. It consists of a full year workouts based on building up to what it takes to race for over 10 hours and 140 miles.
KINE-P 373 has been extremely similar to 246 in the way that the course is designed to prepare you to properly, safely, and effectively help others reach their goals. This course was mostly lecture based which can be just as valuable as a hands on course.
KINE-P 403 is a course which offers tons of hands-on experience with cardiovascular activities. As mentioned perviously, I believe experiencing something, such as a cardio activity, can help you better relate and help a clients experience with your personal expertise. The course even offered a day for students to create a cycling workout and practicing the teaching aspect to our peers. Every Monday there was a different lab highlighting a different cardio modality. Each lab provided a unique learning experience whether you had done the activity before or not.
A specific experience that stood out to me and that I really enjoyed doing was creating a workout. The workout was neuromotor focused on balance and cardio for 60+ year olds. We provided progressions as well as regressions for the different fitness levels. This assignment was completed at the end of the semester- it was fun to put everything we'd done throughout the year all together into one project.
